Welcome

An established practitioner with a national client base, Angela has worked across many areas of mental health. She works with individuals, couples, intergenerational family groups, and workplaces. She also values her work online supporting rural and regional areas, and offering clinical supervision.

Angela has worked with adults holding childhood trauma including the complexities of troubled parental relationships, neglect, abuse, grief, loss, adoption and intergenerational complexities. Depression and anxiety may hide deep histories offering opportunities for greater understanding.

Angela is accomplished at supporting people to move through periods of change that require new skills and insights. Authentic connection is where it starts.

Working with Angela

Broad Life Experience

Angela came to psychotherapy with a solid grounding of life experience. She grew up in Tasmania and left to explore the world in 1988 and created a thriving arts-tourism business in Montreal, Quebec, employing staff and experiencing the rigors of small business. She has lived on different continents, speaks fluent French, and has a tertiary trained painting practice.

Angela has personally experienced traumatic grief and recovered from significant physical injury. She moved her family and life back to Tasmania in 2004 and raised her children while consulting in arts-tourism.

Authenticity in Communication

Of primary importance to therapeutic work is a commitment to exploring personal truths. Elusive as this can be, Angela supports you on this journey.

We identify the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of complex concerns with respect and dignity. Moral injuries, raw, fragmented memories and personal indignities are held with sensitivity and care. Honesty and authenticity remove the layers as personal discovery and deep change are found.

Neurobiology of Emotion

Angela has a deep understanding of the neurobiology of trauma and a sound working knowledge of specialised and effective therapeutic approaches such as EMDR* Therapy and Schema Therapy. Angela is also trained and experienced in the harm minimisation of psychedelic assisted therapy.** (trauma and bad trip integration).

*Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

**Angela will not jeopardise her practice with any unlawful practices .

Mind - Body

Any investigation into mental health requires reflection on physical health. The link between brain and body is receiving more research attention because of positive results.

Angela will support you to find a balance between your digital life and engaging with the natural environment, somatic, or body therapies, creative and reflective practices.

Breath work, movement like dance, yoga and walking have proven results. And many eco-nature therapies help balance our minds, our bodies and our environment.

Occasional belly laughs cannot be underestimated! Watch out for Angela’s sense of humour!

Intergenerational Therapy

Angela’s practice framework is guided by a keen understanding of Intergenerational Trauma. Even our DNA may reference and be affected by historical family events as epigenetic research has discovered.

An exploration of family history often reveals intriguing connections and symmetries that assist in unpicking unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour to offer unexpected ways forward.

Sensemaking & Culture

Exploring your broader social and cultural contexts can bring understanding and compassion for yourself and others. The influence and pressure of divisional ideologies in a complex and rapidly changing world can easily collide with our mental health, relationships and workplaces.

Talking through the morass of conflicting information and responsibilities can help you find peace in a stormy world.

Angela will help you find sense and meaning in modern life.
